iPhone Water Damage — What Works and What Doesn't

Water damage is one of the most common iPhone problems we see, and most cases are recoverable if handled correctly in the first 24 hours. Here is what to do — and not do — if your iPhone gets wet:

Don't do this

• Don't put your iPhone in rice. This is a myth that won't die. Rice does not absorb water from sealed components. The water inside your iPhone is between sealed metal contacts on the logic board, not in open space.
