Lux Phone repairs every iPad model from iPad mini and iPad Air through iPad Pro M4 from our Auburn shop in Sydney. Cracked screens, battery replacement, charging port repair, water damage recovery, button replacement — same-day on most jobs, 6-month warranty on every repair, and a free upfront diagnostic with no obligation. Customers travel to us from across Sydney for honest iPad repair pricing.
Cracked iPad screens are our most common job. The repair process depends on iPad generation. On older models (iPad 5/6, iPad mini 4 and earlier), the front digitizer glass is separate from the LCD — we can sometimes replace just the glass for a lower price (~$129–149). On modern iPads (iPad Pro M-series, iPad Air 4 onward, iPad mini 6), the glass is laminated to the OLED or LCD panel, so the entire display assembly must be replaced (~$249–449 depending on model).
We test the new screen for full multi-touch accuracy, Apple Pencil sensitivity (where applicable), brightness consistency, and colour accuracy before handing the iPad back. The whole job typically takes 2 to 4 hours. iPad Pro models often need overnight curing for the laminated adhesive — we usually have those ready by the next morning.
iPad battery health degrades after 3 to 5 years of regular use, especially in iPads used as point-of-sale terminals, kid devices, or professional creative tools. Symptoms include shutting down at 30–40% charge, lasting only 2–3 hours of moderate use, or refusing to wake from sleep.
Battery replacement on iPads is a more involved procedure than on iPhones because the battery is glued to the chassis and the digitizer must be removed first. We use high-capacity replacement batteries that match or exceed original spec. Cost runs $99 (smaller iPads) to $149 (iPad Pro 12.9"), and the work takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours. Includes our 6-month warranty.
Lightning or USB-C port not detecting cables? Most of the time the port is just packed with pocket lint and dust — we clean it with proper tools at no charge. If the port itself is damaged (gold contacts worn down, pins bent, internal break), we replace the port assembly for around $89–129 depending on iPad model.
Our diagnostic always starts with the cleaning attempt — we have seen many customers brought iPads quoted for $200 port replacements at other shops when the actual fix was 5 minutes of cleaning. Honest diagnostic is the foundation of how we build trust.
Spilled coffee, dropped in pool, rain exposure — water damage requires urgent action. Bring the iPad in within 24 hours. Do not power it on. Do not put it in rice (rice does not absorb internal moisture). We open the iPad, disconnect the battery immediately to stop further corrosion, ultrasonically clean every component, dry overnight in our specialist drying cabinet, then replace any visibly corroded connectors before reassembly.
Recovery rate for iPads brought in within 24 hours of water exposure is roughly 75–80%. Recovery rate drops sharply after 48 hours due to corrosion progression. If we cannot recover the iPad, you pay nothing — we only charge if we successfully restore function. Successful recovery typically costs $129–349 depending on damage extent.
If your iPad model is not listed, call us — we likely repair it. We rarely turn iPads away.
Honest current prices from our Auburn shop. These are our actual quoted prices, not "starting from" markdowns. Final price depends on parts grade selected and damage extent.
For iPads out of AppleCare, third-party repair is significantly cheaper than Apple Service. For iPads under active AppleCare+, Apple is usually the better choice. Quick comparison for the same repair on the same model:
Apple's service model is "replace the entire device or assembly." Independent shops repair at component level, which is why our pricing is significantly lower for the same outcome.
Most common scenario in our shop. iPad mini, Air, or 9th gen, dropped from sofa height onto bathroom tiles. Glass spider-cracked, sometimes a few touch dead spots developing within a week. We replace the full display assembly (these models are laminated). Parts in stock for all common iPads. Cost depends on model — most run $189–249. Turnaround 2 to 4 hours.
Common business user scenario. iPad Pro is laminated so the cracked glass alone cannot be replaced — entire display assembly must come out. Cost $349 (11") or $429 (12.9"). Customer often surprised by price compared to older iPad Pro models — we explain the lamination structure. Once they see the iPad working perfectly afterward, they understand the value.
Typical 4-year-old iPad (often iPad 7 or iPad Air 3). Battery health below 70%. Customer wants to keep using the iPad for kid use or as a kitchen recipe device. Battery replacement $99–139, takes about 2 hours. iPad runs like new afterward. Customer extends iPad life by 2+ years for under $150.
Customer spilled coffee on iPad Pro. Battery and screen still work but Smart Keyboard no longer detects. Smart Connector pins corroded. We replace the Smart Connector flex cable ($129). Functionality fully restored. Total job 90 minutes.
Family with backyard pool, iPad mini 6 fell in during pool party, found at end of party. Customer correctly did NOT power it on. Brought to us 12 hours after submersion. Disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned every component (took 4 hours), dried overnight in cabinet. Next day, fully functional. $249 total. Recovery only because customer did not try to power on.
Customer's iPad was repaired at a different shop 6 months ago for a cracked screen. Touch works perfectly but Apple Pencil no longer responds. Cause: third-party shop installed a non-Pencil-supporting digitizer. Solution: swap to proper Apple Pencil-compatible digitizer. Cost $279 (full display swap with the right part). Pencil functionality fully restored.
Lux Phone is in Auburn but customers come from across Sydney. Auburn train station is 5 minutes walk from our shop, with direct trains from most Sydney suburbs.
What we quote is what you pay. No "additional service fees", no "complexity surcharge", no surprise add-ons. Free diagnostic always. If we cannot fix it, you walk away the same as you came in.
Most of our reviews come from regular Sydney customers who travel from outside Auburn for our service. Our Google reviews are real — verifiable by searching Lux Phone Auburn on Google Maps.
Drop the iPad off in the morning, pick it up in the afternoon, except for laminated iPad Pro screens (overnight curing) and water damage cases (24-48 hours). No "we will call you in 5 days" delays.
If the part fails through no fault of yours within 6 months, we replace it free. Most cheap shops offer 30 days. Our warranty matches the actual lifespan of the parts we use.
Shop Q44/57-59 Queen St, Auburn NSW 2144, in Auburn Central next to Auburn Library. Auburn train station is a few minutes walk. Multiple parking options nearby. We are not a pop-up — Lux Phone has been an Auburn fixture for years.
Yes for most repairs. Screen replacements (older iPads) and battery swaps are typically 90 minutes to 2 hours, which most customers wait for at our shop or grab lunch around Auburn Central. iPad Pro screen replacements need overnight curing — drop off in the afternoon, pick up next morning.
Depends on the model and damage. iPad 6 and earlier — usually replacement makes more sense (a refurbished iPad 9 can cost less than repairing an old iPad 6). iPad Air 3 onward and iPad Pro 9.7" onward — definitely worth repairing because the iPad still has 3-5 years of useful life and replacement cost is high. Free diagnostic helps us tell you honestly which is the right call.
We sell parts directly to walk-in customers occasionally, but iPads in particular are NOT recommended for DIY replacement. The lamination requires a heated separation press and proper tools. Most DIY iPad screen replacements result in either cracking the new glass during install or breaking the digitizer cable during reassembly. The labour cost is worth paying.
Yes, but bent-frame iPads cost more because the frame must be straightened or replaced before a new screen can lay flat. Add $50–100 to standard pricing. iPad Pro models with severely bent frames may need full chassis replacement, which often means scrap value — at that point a refurbished replacement iPad makes more sense.
Wi-Fi-only iPads with antenna failure: yes, $89–129. Cellular iPads with SIM tray, cellular antenna, or cellular modem failure: case-by-case. Cellular modem chip-level repair sometimes succeeds, but expensive. We diagnose for free and tell you the realistic options.
No. We never bypass Activation Lock — that is illegal and we will not touch it. If your iPad is locked to a previous owner's iCloud, you must contact that person to remove it before we can do any work that requires booting the iPad.
If the iPad's logic board is alive and only the screen is dead, we can sometimes connect external display via USB-C (M-series iPads) to enable Files app data export to a USB drive. Older iPads need iCloud / iTunes backup workarounds. Free assessment — no charge if we cannot help.
Yes. We are open Monday to Saturday 8:30am to 6:00pm and Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Walk-ins welcome any time during opening hours. We do not currently offer after-hours emergency repair.
Most iPad repair scenarios fall into one of seven common categories. Here is how each is diagnosed and resolved.
Most common iPad repair. Single drop on a hard surface or pressure point breaking the front glass. Touch may still work but cracks expand over weeks if not repaired. Solution: full display assembly replacement on modern iPads (laminated glass + LCD/OLED), or just glass replacement on older iPads where the digitizer is separable. Pricing $129–449 by model.
iPad shutting down at 30–40% charge, lasting only 2 hours of moderate use, refusing to wake from sleep. Battery health below 70% (check in Settings → Battery on iPadOS 17+, or via diagnostic at our shop). Solution: battery replacement $99–149.
Coffee spill, pool exposure, rain, sink dunk. Symptoms range from immediate failure to gradual battery drain over weeks. Solution: urgent (within 24 hours): disassemble, ultrasonically clean, replace corroded connectors. Recovery rate 75–80% if brought in within 24 hours.
Lightning or USB-C port not detecting cables, or only working at certain angles. Often pocket lint or debris causing 80% of cases — we clean for free. If hardware damaged, port replacement $89–129.
iPad Pro / Air Smart Keyboard or Magic Keyboard not detecting after liquid spillage. Solution: Smart Connector flex cable replacement $129. Quick repair.
"iPad bend" issue from sitting on it or being in a backpack with weight. Frame warped, screen lifting at edges, or future cracks looming. Solution: frame straightening (if minor) or full chassis replacement (if major). Severe cases sometimes uneconomical to repair — we explain honestly.
Software issue, not hardware. iPadOS update, free up storage, factory reset usually solves it. We do not charge for "iPad slow" — we tell you the software steps for free. If genuinely hardware-related (storage chip failure, RAM issue), it usually means full device replacement is more economical.
Drop off in the morning, pick up by afternoon for screen, battery, charging port. iPad Pro M-series screens with laminated displays take overnight (drop off day 1, pick up day 2) for adhesive curing. No "we will call you next week" delays.
Bring iPad in any time during opening hours. Free assessment in 5–10 minutes. Quote provided. No charge if you decide not to proceed.
Every iPad repair includes our 6-month warranty on parts and labour. Most cheap shops offer 30 days. Apple offers 90 days on Apple Service repair. Our 6 months matches the actual lifespan of the parts we use.
Real reviews from real Sydney customers. Verifiable on our Google Maps profile. Many reviews specifically mention iPad repair work — battery replacements, cracked screens, water damage recoveries.
No appointment needed. Auburn train station is 5 minutes walk from our shop with direct trains from across Sydney. Auburn Central has parking, food, library — comfortable place to wait while we work on your iPad.
Latest iPad Pro with OLED display. Most expensive screen replacement category ($399–449) because OLED panel cost is high. Common issues so far: drop damage on tiles (laminated front breaks together with OLED), USB-C port wear from frequent charging cable use. Battery health usually excellent — these are too new for battery issues.
Mini-LED display on 12.9", standard LCD on 11". Most common issue we see: cracked screen from drop, $349 (11") or $429 (12.9"). Smart Keyboard connector failure after liquid spillage is the second most common.
Most common issues: battery health degrading (after 4 years of use), $129 replacement. Cracked glass also common, $349–429.
Battery and screen issues are most common. iPad Air 6 OLED screen replacement $349. Battery $129–139. Generally a reliable iPad — most repairs we see are drop damage rather than wear-out.
USB-C port wear from years of cable use, $99 replacement. Battery starting to degrade by 2026. Cracked screen still common.
Most common issues: cracked screen ($249–279) and battery degradation on mini 6 by 2026. Charging port also wears on heavily-used minis.
Standard iPad models, common in schools and family homes. Most repairs: cracked screen ($189–249), battery replacement ($99–119) on iPad 9 by 2026.
Battery health typically below 70% by 2026 — battery replacement $99 makes the iPad usable for another 2+ years. Cracked screens still common, $189.
Older iPads with separable digitizer glass — we can replace just the cracked glass for lower price ($129). Many of these iPads now used as kid devices, kitchen recipe tablets, or POS terminals — battery replacement extends their life economically.
Older minis — repair economics depend on use. For active daily use, repair makes sense ($129–189). For occasional use, replacement with refurbished iPad mini 6 may be more economical.
We work with several Sydney schools and business clients with multi-iPad fleets. If you have 5+ iPads to repair, we offer batch discount (10% off when 5+ devices come in together).
Schools typically need: cracked screens (kids drop them), charging ports (worn from lots of cable plug-ins), battery replacements after 3–4 years of daily classroom use, and cleaning of food residue from internal components.
Common in: retail (POS iPads), real estate (showing properties), construction (worksite iPads), restaurants (order pads). Issues we see: water spillage, battery degradation, cracked screens from dropping, USB-C port wear.
Contact us for batch repair quotes. We can sometimes provide loaner iPads during repair for critical business operations.
